Luwak coffee is one of the rarest and most expensive coffees in the world! It is available in limited quantities from coffee plantations across the Indonesian Archipelago. The coffee is unique because the beans are eaten and pass through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civit (Luwak) which lives naturally in the forests surrounding the coffee plantations. What makes Luwak coffee so special is the civit's selection of the ripest cherries and the fermentation of the beans during the digestion process.  Natural enzymes soften the acidity within the beans, reducing bitterness while building a rich, smooth flavor unique to Luwak coffee. Our beans are collected on plantations located in the Gayo Highlands in the Aceh province of the northern tip of Sumatra (Indonesian island). The Asian Palm Civits that feed on the coffee are living in the wild, none of them are held in captivity.
